The Cygnet Centre is located within the Shellharbour City Centre,
approximately 20km south of Wollongong, 110km south of Sydney and
17km north of Kiama.
With an annual population growth rate of approximately 2% (2002 census),
Shellharbour is growing at nearly double the rate of median New South
Wales. A recently revised population estimate for Shellharbour City from the
Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) gives a population figure of 68,569. The
Shellharbour region expects further growth with the proposed $1.5 billion
Shellcove Project including 3000 residential lots, golf course , boat harbour/
marina and tourist venues.
The Cygnet Centre is situated within Stage 2 of the Shellharbour City Centre
and is surrounded by quality businesses.
Stage 1 of the Shellharbour City Centre accommodates Greater Union
Cinema, popular eateries such as Hogs Breath Cafe, large retailers Rebel Sport
and Beach Street Surf Scene, Geenty Brown & Associates Orthadontics, Kells
the Lawyers and many more high profile retailers and office users.
Stockland Shellharbour, with over 120 speciality stores,
lies directly to the East and the Stockland owned Stoney
Range Retail Park is just to the West.
The Cygnet Centre features prominently on the Northern
side of Cygnet Avenue towards the College Avenue
intersect - arterial roads linking Stockland Shellharbour to
the Stockland Retail Park and highly used thoroughfares
to surrounding residential suburbs including Stoney
Range, Blackbutt and Oak Flats.
Site access and visibility is excellent with traffic flow
along Cygnet Avenue predicated to be up to 1000
vehicles per hour in the weekday afternoon period. It
has also been recently proposed that Shellharbour City
Council’s new chambers be constructed within metres of
the Cygnet Centres southern side.
