Canberra’s office market is again on the radar of local institutions, which wracked up a busy second half in 2017 after foreign buyers had set the early pace.  In two of the most recent deals, financial services group Challenger swooped on a Childers Square office tower and superannuation fund-backed manager ISPT picked up a complex in Barton in the parliamentary triangle.

Chris Geers has been appointed Managing Director of MMJ Real Estate (WA), with a focus on driving business growth in 2018.  

 

Chris, who joined the company in 2001 as a trainee valuer while still at university, became Director of Valuations in 2014 and a shareholder the following year.  In his new role as Managing Director of MMJ Real Estate (WA) he is responsible for sales and leasing operations, as well as the company’s valuation business units.

In what sets a new benchmark for commercial asset sales in Wollongong, a 6,719m2 A-grade office building with a sub 5-year WALE has just sold for $33.3 million, reflecting a 7.25% nett yield and approx. $5,000/m2 of building area. The property, 77 Market Street, was sold by MMJ Commercial (Wollongong) on behalf of Medibank Private Limited.
