Gavin moved to Canberra in 1984 and has been actively involved in the Canberra business community since then. After a 20 year career in the commercial finance industry in April 1997 Gavin started in commercial real estate. Initially he was focussed on commercial sales and he worked in some of the major Canberra based international agencies where he progressed to be the head of ACT investment sales.
In September 2004 Gavin, and his business partner Nick George, established their own business; a franchised full service commercial real estate agency for an international company and then in August 2010 they rebranded to MMJ Real Estate.
During his commercial property career Gavin has been involved in and negotiated the sale of a large number of investment, development and redevelopment properties on behalf of private, institutional and government clients. He has also negotiated many leases both for property owners and for tenants. Since starting his own business his primary leasing focus has been on management clients but he does have a broad expertise in major project leasing.
Gavin's diverse background gives him experience/expertise in many fields including redevelopment projects, marketing, negotiation and closing the sale. He has also demonstrated his ability to add value to the sale process, achieve record prices and has been successful in the sale of difficult properties where others have failed. These business skills have also benefited management clients and other commercial property owners in the leasing arena where he has completed many difficult, and sometimes challenging, leasing transactions. Gavin’s philosophy is to achieve the best possible outcome for his clients whilst achieving a win win situation.
