Fun Fact

The present-day site of Woonona, specifically Collins Point, was the first attempted landing in Australia by Captain James Cook on 28 April 1770. However, breaking surf prevented their landing party from getting ashore. A small plaque at Collins Rocks Headland commemorates this event.
