Bulli NSW

Bulli is a delightful, coastal suburb, situated at the bottom of Bulli pass between the ocean and the escarpment. It is quickly becoming one of the Illawarra’s highest-quality suburbs, home to two major residential areas with water views as well as some of Wollongong’s most sought after real estate.

Cafes, Restaurants & Bars

Bulli’s growing success as a popular suburb can be attributed to its fantastic food and drink scene that makes casual lunches on sunny days something everyone can look forward to. Perhaps the most popular is Bulli Beach Café, sitting between Bulli Beach and Sandon Point Beach, however it has great competition in Ruby’s Café, Stokes Lane Café, and its latest hospitality offering – The Fitz, which is a rooftop café and bar located on the main street.

Bulli also offers a variety of multicultural cuisines, a Brewery, an RSL Club, and a Workers Club.

Shops

The suburb of Bulli itself does not offer as much shopping as its surrounding suburbs, however it is home to a large Woolworths store as well as a small commercial cluster along the main street where you will find a collection of stores.

Larger shopping variety can be found only ten minutes away in the nearby suburbs of Thirroul and Corrimal, or only 10km south in Wollongong’s CBD.

Things to Do

Bulli is close to one end of the beautiful walking track that runs from Thirroul all the way to Wollongong. The walk has serene coastal views and plenty of places for refreshments along the way. The walk travels past many popular places for surfing and swimming.

The Bulli Black Diamond Museum Heritage Centre houses a collection of railway and local coal mining artefacts, as well as historic photographs and paintings.

Bulli also hosts the Forager Markets, open 9-2 on the 2nd Sunday of each month, and Bulli Greyhound Racing.

Sport

Bulli is home to the Bulli Football Club, the Woonona Bulli Bushrangers Rugby League Club, as well as PCYC Bulli, a sporting hub for the local community offering two full sized basketball courts.

Schools

Bulli Public School, Waniora Public School and Bulli High School are the suburb’s local primary and high schools, alongside Alesco Illawarra (Bulli campus) and St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, the local independent schools.

Parks

Bulli is scattered with fantastic parks, reserves and playgrounds, catering to children, athletes, animals or just to those who enjoy a scenic stroll. Perhaps most notably is Bulli Park, a beach front park where people can swim, picnic, and watch or play sport.

Water

Bulli lies on Sandon Point Beach and Bulli Beach, arguably two of the Illawarra’s greatest beaches with excellent amenities and picturesque surf.

If you are in the mood for a day trip, Bulli is just over an hour away from world-famous national parks including the Royal National Park to the north and Jervis Bay National Park to the south.

Transport

Bulli is located to the north of Wollongong, less than a 20-minute drive from Wollongong CBD. It is surrounded by the picturesque Illawarra escarpment, with quick, easy access to Sydney via Bulli Pass or Mount Ousley Pass.

Bulli railway station is walking distance from the suburb’s centre, connecting residents to the Illawarra railway line which travels up and down the east coast with an express service that travels directly to Sydney. Bulli also has several bus services passing through it that mean you can travel to and from Wollongong CBD in a matter of minutes.

Fun Fact

Bulli soil is the primary source of soil and foundation of Sydney Cricket Ground.
