Gosnells is a vibrant and diverse community suburb just over 20km south-east of the Perth CBD. In the last decade it has been revitalised of commercial activity, now boasting an exciting range of state-of-the-art leisure and recreation facilities, attractions, and historical sites.
Cafes, Restaurants & Bars
Although Gosnells is one of Western Australia’s smaller suburbs, it still caters to all your food and drink necessities, offering Thai, American BBQ, fish and chips, Indian, and Chinese restaurants as well as an assortment of popular cafes.
As the oldest public building in the City of Gosnells, the Gosnells Hotel boasts a huge bistro, a range of beers on tap, outdoor areas (including a playground!), and a sports bar, perfect for young adults to sit back and relax and for families to enjoy an evening out.
Shops
The suburb of Gosnells has a small Coles supermarket. Less than a ten-minute drive north-west you will find West Gosnells Shopping Centre, a large shopping mall boasting a huge range of popular and niche stores, or fifteen minutes south is Stargate Shopping Centre and Kelmscott Plaza, two of the town’s larger centres.
Gosnells also hosts the Gosnells Railway Markets, or ‘Gozzy Markets’, running every Thursday to Sunday. The markets offer three platforms, the first being ‘Very Fresh’ (9am-5pm). Here, you can indulge in fresh seafood, butchery, or baked goods. The ‘Food Hall’ (9am-8:30pm) provides the choice of 10 food outlets, dine-in or takeaway, and the third ‘Retail’ section (9am-5pm) comprises of 30 locally owned and operated stores.
Things to Do
Gosnells is abundant with leisure and recreation activities where people can explore the local history and natural environments of Western Australia.
For instance, located only minutes from Gosnells’ centre is Korung National Park, a nature enthusiast’s dream. Offering bushwalking and mountain biking, the park comes alive with wildflowers in the spring.
On the picturesque banks of the Canning River, the heritage listed Wilkinson Homestead Museum reflects nineteenth century Western Australia featuring collections of textiles, agricultural machinery, domestic equipment, furniture, historic photographs and paintings.
The City of Gosnells Ghost Walks is another way to explore Western Australia’s rich local history. Enjoy a 5.5km guided walk through the Mason and Bird Timber Mill Company that thrived over 150 years go.

Water
As well as being the richest wild flower location in the Perth Metropolitan Area, within Ellis Brook Valley, sits Ellis Brook Falls, or Sixty Foot Falls, a beautiful waterfall at the end of a spectacular walking trail.
As far as beaches go, you can travel all along Australia’s beautiful west coast, beginning at only a 30-minute drive away.
Transport
Gosnells is served by Gosnells and Seaforth train stations, on the suburban Perth to Armadale railway line. Here, residents can catch a train to the city approximately every 15 minutes, with the trip taking around 20 minutes.
If you were wanting to drive to the Perth CBD, Albany Highway will take you 40 minutes northwest into the city, as well as southeast to Albany.
Gosnells also has six bus routes that travel to Thornlie, Armadale and Perth, as well as the ‘Gosnells Loop’.

American football punter Mitch Wishnowsky of the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League was born in Gosnells in 1992!
