National boutique Real Estate Agency brand, MMJ (Martin Morris & Jones originally established out of NSW in 1960) is undertaking a strategic expansion of its Melbourne agency business.

The commercial agency network, with offices in NSW, ACT, WA and established in Vic in 2015, has recently appointed two industry veterans to it’s team with the network’s agency expansion clearly on the agenda.

MMJ Melbourne, which has a successful, established management platform, having tripled its property management portfolio in the past nine years, has appointed as Directors Steve Messina and Nick Bourke, who, together with industry stalwart Joel Wald, will drive the growth of the agency business as it seeks to expand the Melbourne profile.

Industry veteran’s Steven Messina and Nick Bourke bring over 30 years’ experience each to the network, demonstrating MMJ’s focus on growing its agency presence in Melbourne. With an impressive track record spanning over three decades in the commercial property industry, Messina and Bourke bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise that will undoubtedly strengthen the organisation.

As highly regarded professionals, Steven Messina and Nick Bourke have made a significant impact on the commercial property landscape, with expertise in a diverse range of commercial property sectors, including office, retail, land and particularly mixed-use developments. It is understood that the pair have concluded a substantial $2b in combined sales & acquisitions for clients over recent years, with Messina thought to be behind the recent sale of a substantial 1.5ha parcel in Hawthorn, while Bourke has recently acquired land on behalf of a private family group for $15m in Melbourne’s north.

Both operators have extensive history, of over two decades, with the larger international firms, with Messina leaving JLL around ten years ago to pursue his own operation, while Bourke has led his own property business for over a decade.

"We are delighted to welcome both Steven Messina and Nick Bourke to our team," said MMJ Director Joel Wald. "Their impressive professional background and extensive experience in commercial property make them a valuable addition to our organisation. Their expertise will greatly enhance our capabilities and enable us to provide unparalleled services to our clients. With this appointment, Steven and Nick join dedicated professionals who are committed to delivering exceptional results and exceeding client expectations. Together, they will help drive our growth and profile in Melbourne.”

Chris Johnson, MMJ’s Executive Chairman noted “the recruitment of Steve and Nick is totally aligned with one of the group’s key strategic objectives.  This being to hire quality staff enabling the group to expand the number and depth of property services MMJ delivers to its loyal clients across its national office network.”  Allison Brudenell, MMJ Melbourne’s Managing Director, commented that “Steve and Nick both seriously enhance the strength of our existing team, which already specialises in providing property management, leasing, sales, consultancy and advisory services throughout Victoria”.

Messina said “we are very excited about joining this team and enthusiastic about the growth and positioning potential for the future.” Bourke added “with our experience and knowledge we are well placed to provide unrivalled, professional advice and service to our client base and provide a solid base for the next 10 years.”

The team has hit the ground running, with three sites hitting the market in recent days, including two inner-west residential development sites, and an inner-east site on Toorak Road comprising around 2,000 sqm.
